Let’s Make A Change Together.
A note from our President Dagada;
The beautiful coastal nation of Mozambique has been rocked by unprecedented violence and unrest following contentious elections that saw Daniel Chapo of the ruling Frelimo party declared the winner with 65% of the vote. Daniel Francisco Chapo is the president-elect of Mozambique, set to take office on January 15, 2025. Here are key points about Chapo and the potential impact of his presidency: Chapo will be Mozambique's first president born after independence from Portugal in 1975. He represents a new generation of leadership, potentially bringing fresh perspectives to governance. His election extends FRELIMO's 49-year rule, raising questions about potential changes in governance.
Chapo's victory is contested by opposition leader Venancio Mondlane, who claims election fraud. Chapo has primarily served in provincial roles, including as governor of Inhambane Province, with no national government experience while Mondlane has more diverse political experience, including serving as a member of the Municipal Council of Maputo and as an MP in the Assembly of the Republic. Chapo has been declared the winner with 65% of the vote, according to official results and Mondlane claims to have won the election, alleging fraud, and has strong support among youth and urban populations. While Mondlane has been in voluntary exile, orchestrating protests and planning to return to declare himself president, Chapo is preparing to take office on January 15, 2025.
